Abstract This paper is composed of 3 aprts: 1. observational analysis of corrosion of steel doors and sashes of public hosings in Okinawa. 2. demolition survey of actual steel doors and sashes of 35-year-old p...ublic housing near costal area in Okinawa and 3. test for measurement of temperature and humidity of a hollow steel door in Fukuoka. Firstly, characteristics of corroded steel doors and sashes ar figured out through the obsrevational analysis. Doors and sashes corrode, become nonfunctional, such as loss of door sills, deformig of hinges, boarded up maildrops, etc. Therefore, the authors expected that not only external but also internal corrosion of steel doors progressed near costal area. Secondly, the demolition survey corroborates the expection. The internal corrosion has progressed with no relation to degree of external corrosion, especially at the bottom. Thirdly, to clear condition of progression of internal corrosion, changes in external surface temperatures and internal humidity of the door are measured for a year. Surface temperatures on rainy days sometimes fall below dew-point temperaturs of internal air. It shows a high possibility of internal condensation. As a result, the condition, rainy and over 90 percent relative humidity, is clarified.show more
