Abstract This manuscript is intended to reveal the activities of FUKUOKA KYOIKU-KAI in early 1940s by investigating the articles of the newsletter of FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKUKAI. The newsletter of FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKUKA...I "FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKUKAI KAIHO" was renamed to "FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKU" in September 1917 and it had been published continuously until 1944 (suspension of publication in July). This newsletter is the only documentary records to find the activities of FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKUKAI at this moment. We selected articles reporting the activities of FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKUKAI from "FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKU", that were published during January 1940 to July 1944. We simply list their activities during this period. Let us leave political, ideological, social analysis for further investigation for now. First, our investigation came to reveal some facts about the organizational operation of FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKU-KAI. One of the main facts was that there were amendments of the articles of association, which was approvedin 1941. Before the amendments, they had council meeting, representative conference, and general assembly to deliberate. But to conform to the new regime, they abolished the council meeting which was an advisory organ. The representative conference which was a voting organ was changed its name and unified as the council meeting. Secondary, abolishment of KYUSYU OKINAWA HAKKEN RENGO KYOIKUKAI (which was held as a social gathering) was revealed. This was because of the aggravation of the political situation. We also confirmed the facts that FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKU-KAI was visiting shrines (Ise, Kashihara, Miyazaki), and tha they were sending inspection groups to Manchuria. Thirdly, we described their project that held various kinds of courses to offer information to the members. These courses had classes that taught essences of national elementary school. They also had classes that taught teaching methods and teaching materials. Likewise, we confirmed that they had associations to promote physical education and BUDO (武道) at school. They had held prize contents for science essays since the end of 1941. This was a quite interesting way to promote and collect ideas on science education. In 1937 and 1944, FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKUKAI contributed warplanes. The warplane which was contributed in 1944 was purchased with 100,000 yen donation made by the students from secondary school, boy's school and national elementary school in all over the prefecture. It was named AIKOKU No.2856 (FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKU) by the secretary of state for war."FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKU" showed the process of these contributions. What "FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKU" documented enables us to know about the activities of FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKU-KAI in 1940's.This will be a good opportunity to know a part of FUKUOKAKEN KYOIKU-KAI and their achievements.show more
