Abstract | China is experiencing notable changes in rural-urban migration. Meanwhile, the development of a market economy in China since the late 1980s has resulted in noticeable changes within the group structu...re of rural-urban workers. The new generation migrant workers have become the main part of migrant workers, and appear to have new problems and demands compared with the previous migrant workers in China. According to the data from the field research in Beijing City, combined with related census statistics from the State Statistics Bureau, this research reveals the work conditions such as wages, working times and insurance of the new generation migrant workers in the Citizen Process by empirical analysis. This paper found out 1)the new generation of migrant worker receives relative low wages and long working hours, and there is also unequal treatment between the urban peers and them; 2) there are differences in attitudes towards migration between highly educated young workers and lower educated people; 3) Some of them lack social insurance that enterprises should provide. Finally, reasonable countermeasures are put forward to solve the transfer of rural labor force and new generation migrant workers in China.show more |
