Abstract The authors have been conducting a study to develop and propose a sustainable friction damping system which consists of the concrete block wall assembled by dry construction method and the frame of ma...in structure. In this system, the concrete block are not bonded to each other at their connection part, making it possible to be disassembled once assembled. So the members of this system can be easily reused or recycled. In this study』the authors conducted a static horizontal cyclic loading test of positive and negative alternations in the in-plane direction of concrete block walls laid in the manner of straight or breaking joint in order to develop a concrete block wall suitable for the damping system, and investigated the mechanical characteristics such as horizontal strength, rigidity and deformation properties.show more
