Abstract |
It is known that wind damage to houses is more strongly affected by maximum gusts rather than maximum wind speeds. Furthermore, the numerous conditions of construction like the age and structure of bu...ildings influence outbreaks of wind damage. Because these conditions of construction differ due to climate in area where the building is located, the structural conditions in the area should be considered when we estimate residential damage rate associated with typhoon. The authors focused on residential damage resulting from Typhoon Songda(0418) in Kyushu and Hokkaido. We found that the structural conditions of houses in each area are a significant factor to wind damage spreading.show more
