Abstract |
Polyester nonwoven(PW) is made of fine fibers in the same manner as glass fiber(GW) and high sound absorption may be expected in it. As PW can be completely recycled, it is noticed for its possibility... of applications to sound absorbing material from the viewpoint of recycling and reuse of resources and the cutback of waste matter. Although some commercialized sound absorbing materials made of PW have already existed and an example of application to real anechoic chamber can be seen, it was reported that it was a little inferior to GW in sound absorbing efficiency. In order to use PW widely to general sound absorbing materials, high sound absorption must be possessed. In this study, therefore, sound absorption coefficients of various samples of which fiber components are varied are measured and fiber component with higher absorption is experimentally searched. As a result of the experiment, fiber component with the same absorption as GW is found. An anechoic chamber where this PW is used for sound absorption at the interior of the room is introduced as an example of the application of this PW.show more
