Abstract |
It is known that the wind damage spreading of residential houses is more strongly affected by gust speeds rather than maximum wind speeds. The authors have turned more attention to number of wind reco...rds. The damage analyses results based on Typhoon Bart(1999) and Typhoon Songda(2004) have indicated that a frequency of wind record smaller than 40 m/s has no correlation to residential damages. And residential damage rates increased with number of wind records exceeding 55 m/s. We have focused attention on gust factors and fluctuation intensities too. When gust factors become large, the residential damage increases. It is suggested that the fluctuation intensity as well as the frequency of wind speed is a significant factor of spreading of structural damage.show more
