Abstract A concrete filled tube(hereinafter CFT) has excellent capacities of the deformation and energy absorption, so momnet resistant frames composed of CFT columns(CFT frames) can permit some of columns to ...yield. The lower boundary of the columns-to-beam strength ratio for such frames was discussed. In this paper, the effects of inner column-to-beam strength ratio on earthquake responses characteristics of the frames is demonstrated by a dynamic response analysis, where the maximum story-drift angle, the maximum rotation angle at beam and column ends, a ratio of the maximum rotation angle to the maximum story-drift angle, and the maximum damage at beam and column ends are discussed.show more
