Abstract |
Four moment-resisting concrete frames were tested under cyclic reversed lateral load while subjected to constant axial compression. The test specimens were made of high-strength concrete having target... strength of 80MPa. Aiming at verification of the effectiveness of a new confinement method, columns of the test frames were confined by square steel tube in lieu of conventional hoops. Test results showed that the HSC frames could behave in a very stable manner till large deformation even under high axial load with axial load ratio of 0.5, when the columns were confined by steel tube. Method for evaluating ultimate lateral capacity of the confined HSC frames was also presented and compared with the tests results.show more
