Abstract Software art is an artistic production created by computer software. In this concept, what moves music to the center stage of the components and whose input to computer has an aspect of rendition is c...alled "rendition software art". The goal of this study is to clarify the features of the rendition software art throughout the analysis of the 3 works; Cubie by S. Fujioka, Overbug by H. Matoba and Push action buttons by N. Furuta. The general features of the software art are that their appreciations are done in a personal time and space and the appreciators bear a role as creator. In the rendition software art, the appreciator bears a role as a performer. With that, the hitherto known relationship where musical notes are centered on; "composition→rendition→reception" is lost in the rendition software art. Instead of that, the relationship where the computer screen is centered on; "visualization and symbolizing of the music generation rules→interactive features of input and output→active reception" is born. Furthermore, in this case, the computer screen functions as a fine art as well. The creator of the rendition software makes the concept of the music into a music generation rule and transforms it to a program. What guarantees the identification of the rendition software as a work is not the music which plays at input and output, but the music generation rules as a program and the computer screen functioning as a fine art.show more
