Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to examine the relation among self-esteem, self-evaluation, and reflected-self-appraisals from the friends in later childhood. Self-evaluation scale, reflected-self-appra...isals scale, self-esteem scale, which were made to arrange Self-perception profile for children (SPPC), and questions about importance of self-evaluation-domains were conduced to 448 children at the 5th and 6th grade. At first, factor analysis was performed. As a result, self-evaluation scale had five factors, and the reflected-self-appraisals scale had two factors. Next, it was found that there were six types of self-evaluation by cluster analysis. Finally, an analysis of variance (ANOVA) made the relation between the types of self-evaluation and self-esteem clear. The result indicated that there were two types of low self-esteem children, which were named <all items low type> and <reflected-self-appraisals higher type>, and they might need preventive supports. It was an especially important discovery that mental maladjustment of <reflected-self-appraisals higher type > might be overlooked by other people.show more
