Abstract	The purpose of this paper is to clarify the regional development by private entrepreneurs of modern Japan. Before the war, Seizo Ota became the president of the Hakatawan Railway Company and opened th...e Miyajidake-Line. He developed residential areas, a farm, an amusement park, and an educational facility along the railway line. After the war, Fukuoka prefecture had carried out a large-scale land readjustment project in order to develop residential areas and the amusement park. Businesses by private entrepreneurs had become the foundation of post-war development.show more
