Abstract 趙(2016)collected examples of demonstratives from the Japanese-language and Chinese-language versions of “1Q84 BOOK1” and “蛙鳴”, drew a distinction between the translatable and untranslatable, and then ...provided an analysis. Japanese-language and Chinese-language versions of “1Q84 BOOK1” have already been digitalized. However, this is not the case with “蛙鳴” written by莫言. Therefore, 趙(2016)extracted examples at random from the text, formed statistics for the trends of each demonstrative, before simply classifying and examining them. It was not possible to analyze in fine detail how each demonstrative was translated among the many used. For the aforementioned reasons, I digitized the Japanese version of “蛙鳴” in this paper, in order to find more examples of demonstratives being used. I then re-analyzed them with applied focus and assessed how they were translated.show more
