Abstract International students not only sustain the economic strategy in Japan by stimulating domestic economic activities but also play a key role in local community development by living among the local com...munity as citizens. While it is known that volunteer services enhance the community involvement and career development of students, in general, its significance in enriching the learning experience of international students is yet to be recognized. Therefore, in order to examine qualitatively what international students learn from participating in volunteer services and how they intend to utilize their experiences, this study employed the Personal Attitude Construct Analysis. The findings indicate that engaging in volunteer services and thereby using the Japanese language serves as an internship opportunity for international students, which helps them in career development and promotes community involvement.show more
