Abstract In this paper, resistance to chemical deterioration of concrete containing large quantity of fly ash with constant Portland cement content was discussed by investigating the change of weight and lengt...h of specimens immersed in a 5% solution of sulfuric acid and sulfate. Specimens with no fly ash content (with Portland cement only), with higher cement content, and with lower water cement ratio were dissolved severely by the sulfuric acid of a pH value between 0.2 and 0.5. On the other hand, it was confirmed that with an increase in the fly ash content, the resistance of specimens to sulfuric acid and sulfate attack improvedshow more
