Abstract |
A nonuniform radial electric field is found experimentally to play a role on the excitation of low-frequency instabilities in an ECR plasma. The radial electric field is controlled with an end plate w...hich consists of six concentric plates biased separately. The instabilities require a well-type radial potential profile with a hill-type density profile, or a hill-type potential profile with a well-type density profile. These experimental results agree qualitatively with theoretical predictions.show more
