Abstract The collisinoal drift instability, which has a great relation to the plasma particle loss, is studied experimentally in the regime where the collision frequencies between electrons and neutral particl...es are dominant. Theoretical analysis shows that this mode should be drived by electron-neutral collisions as well as electron coulomb collisions. this fact is confirmed experimentally in an ECR plasma produced with the Lisitano coil.show more
