概要 |
Ten bismethylenesuccinic anhydrides (fulgides) and a bismethylenesuccinimide (fulgimide) were synthesized. Their photochromic behavior was examined both in toluene solutions and in poly(methyl methacr...ylate) (PMMA) films by observing the changes in absorption spectra in the course of ultraviolet irradiation (365nm). Attempts to enhance photochromism by (1) introducing an electron-rich aromatic ring as ^3R or (2) interruping the concurrent, undesired, color-fading 1,5-sigmatropic shift were often impaired by some other steric effects. Heller's thus far best-behaving (E)-α-2,5-dimethyl-3-furylethylidene(isopropylidene)succinic anhydride (10) could not be surpassed. The PMMA matrix did not seem to affect very much the feature of photochromism of this family of compounds.続きを見る
