Abstract We have been studying on residential electricity consumption in Fukuoka and came up to that a new method is more effective than the conventional two methods for estimating monthly electricity consumpt...ion for air conditioning during summer season. This paper is concerned with the analysis of residential electricity consumption for cooling and heating in 8 cities (Sapporo, Sendai, Niigata, Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, Fukuoka and Naha) by the new method. The data of monthly lump residential electricity consumption from questionnaire surveys in 1992 were used for the estimation. The results warrant the following conclusions. (1) In the case of detached houses, the maximum monthly electricity consumption (kWh/ (month・house)) for cooling were 26.8in Sapporo,46.0 in Sendai,63.6in Niigata,175.5 in Tokyo,140.O in Nagoya, 106.8 in Kyoto, 125.0 in Fukuoka, 217.8 in Naha. (2) In Tokyo, Nagoya, Kyoto, Fukuoka and Naha the percentage of cooling electricity consumption for total electricity consumption is more than 30% in the peak during summer season, (3) Annual electricity consumption for cooling is the largest in Naha. (Detached house: 902.1 kWh/ (a・house), Apartment housel 672.7 kWh/ (a・house)) (4) In the case of detached house, annual electricity consumption for heating is the largest in Tokyo. A case of apartment house is the largest in Sendai. (5) The percentage of electricity consumption for total heating energy consumption was 4% in Sapporo.show more
