Abstract |
An ion beam which is inclined about 70 degrees against the plasma axis is injected into plasmas. This ion beam exists all over the experimental region except within the distance about 2 cm close to th...e separation grid. It is confirmed by the interferential method that observed instabilities are the ion-ion instability. The amplitude of the instability grows near the separation grid, and gradually damps. When the ion beam is perturbed by an external RF field, the growth rate and the damping rate change from the ones without the external RF field. Especially, it is found that when the frequency of the external RF field is 500kHz, the growth rate and damping rate change remarkably.show more
