概要 The recovery process of defects in iron dilute alloys could be strongly affected by small amount of impurities. Especially, it is well known that the embrittlement process under high energy neutron ir...radiation environment in low alloy ferritic steels could be strongly influenced by small amount of impurity copper atoms. Accordingly, the effect of copper and other impurities on recovery has been studied1)2), but it has not been clarified yet. The effect of interaction between copper and carbon atoms on recovery process was studied by positron annihilation lifetime measurements with Fe-Cu-C ternary alloys after 28MeV electron irradiation at 77K. It was also observed that the positron lifetime was not resolved in all temperature range in any alloys irrespective of copper and carbon concentrations, which means vacancy clusters (microvoids) were not formed. This process is different from other kind of iron based binary alloys3). In all Fe-Cu-C alloys, the positron lifetime begins to decrease about 280K and becomes stable (120-140psec) about 500K. This shows that the vacancy cluster formation is disturbed by copper and carbon atoms, and stable defect-impurity complexes are formed instead.続きを見る
