Anew instrument for the measurement of emission spectra produced by ion-molecule collisions has been designed and constructed in order to study the excitation and dissociation processes of large molec...ules such as aromatic molecules. The spectrum produced in N2＋-p-xylene collisions showed a very weak emission of the parent molecule and relatively intense lines and bands of excited fragment species such as H, CH, N2 and N2＋ produced in collision processes.show more
