Abstract |
The transient permeation flux of deuterium through nickel membrane was measured in a temperature region from 373K to 773K by use of the RF-discharged deuterium plasma. The experimental results were an...alysed by the diffusion-controlled model and it was concluded that the permeation rate of the plasma driven permeation under the present experimental conditions was controlled by the diffusion process at temperatures below 480K and by the surface recombination process at temperatures above 480K. The significantly enhanced permeation flux observed in our study was ascribed to the fact that neutral deuterium atoms impinging onto the specimen surface have a larger dissolution rate than that of the deuterium molecules by the order of 107.show more
