Abstract |
Numbers of intermediate floats were deployed at the northern Japan Sea in summer, 1999. Lagrangian data of the float’s movement are assimilated into a barotropic shallow water model by approximate Kal...man filter in this study. The Kalman filter assimilates the data into the model successfully: the assimilated field shows intensified and realistic subpolar circulation in the Japan Basin. The steady state approximation for the Kalman filter shows good agreement with the Riccatti difference equation in spite of spatially random nature of the float data.show more
