Abstract |
This study aims at investigating the similarities and differences between predicates and resultative influence of Indirect Passives in Chinese and Japanese. To be more precise, although there is resul...tative influence in Indirect Passives in both of them, resultative influence in Chinese is more complicated than that in Japanese. In the case of predicates, both Chinese and Japanese intransitive verbs can be divided into three groups: verbs describing general actions, verbs describing phenomena and verbs describing attitude or emotion. Moreover, almost all the transitive verbs describe the influence on themes. However, most of transitive verbs in Japanese can be used in Indirect Passives, while transitive verbs that can be used in Indirect Passives are restricted in Chinese.show more
