Abstract |
Akutagawa Ryunosuke's "Yabunonaka" possesses an extraordinary narrative structure. However carefully and closely we may read through the text to the end, the truth of the murder case in this story is ...not made clear to us. In this paper, I will shed light on the mystery of why Akutagawa created such an extraordinary narrative structure, by examining the interrelation and similarities between "Yabunonaka" and the new intertext which I will present in my argument, Laurence Sterne's "Tristram Shandy".show more
