Abstract In this paper, I aim to demonstrate the effect of hesitation on the implied-reader of Yumeno Kyusaku's "A Love after Death", referring to the concept of fantasy put forward by Tzvetan Todorov, and add...ing my own ideas based on an analysis taking more concrete readers as its object. From this point of view, it will be shown that this novel has a structure which puts a demand on the reader-to believe or not to believe. This hesitation in the reader refuses to be extinguished.show more
