Abstract This paper will examine the similarities and differences between the two writers considering the following problems. Lu Xun's individualism evolved during his stay in Japan. It was affected by Europea...n individualism accepted in Japan during the middle of the Meiji period. Lu Xun and Soseki's individualism was influenced by their respective periods, social conditions and personal purposes. Lu Xun soon stopped researching individualism after his homecoming. The main reason for this is the influence on Lu Xun of the society of that period.show more
