Abstract This paper reviewed major preceding studies of spontaneous behaviors such as, organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), prosocial organizational behavior, extrarole behavior, and so on. Then, the aut...hors focused on the concept of OCB, one of the widely known forms of spontaneous behaviors. Based on the argument that OCB may not promote innovation despite the contribution to the status-quo of organizations, the authors developed and proposed new concept of innovation-promotive behavior (IPB), that is consisted of members' behavioral pattern of problem solving, creative suggestions, collecting valuable information, customer-orientation, and acting on management. The concept and the behavioral structure in relation with inrole behavior and OCB were delineated.show more
