Abstract A nonlinear finite element analysis by MSC Marc (2012) is performed to evaluate bending behavior of concrete filled steel tubular (CFT) members subjected to sideways of Tsunami flotsam concentrated lo...ads considering the concrete steel interface with a cohesive zone model. The tip shape of lateral load (from sharp to round) are one of numerical parameters which intend the collision with Tsunami debris. The solid element (type 7) is used for steel tubes and concrete infill, respectively. The cohesive element (type 188) is used as interface between steel and concrete for simulating the sliding and separation between inside of a surface steel tube and outside of concrete infill. The accuracy of analytical models is investigated by the experiment. The verification of three dimensional FEM models are well proved by the past experimental results. Being based on the study, the effect of sharp or round shape of the loading tip on the flexural behaviors of CFT members are discussed.show more
