| Abstract |
In Japanese, the sentence structure "NP_1 De No NP_2" ("NP_1での NP_2"), as is evident in the phrase "Japan De No life" ("日本での生活"), is frequently used. In the above example, as well as in most sentences... where this structure appears, NP_1 refers to a place. However, it is not always the case that when NP_1 refers to a place and appears together with an NP_2 that the sentence "NP_1 De No NP_2" will work. In previous research, the rules behind the sentence structure "NP_1 De No NP_2" have not been fully investigated. Therefore, the focus of my research will center on these still undiscovered rules and how they determine the components of this sentence structure (for example, where should NP_1 be situated? What nominal should be used for NP_2?) To clarify what kind of NP_1 and NP_2 can be used in the structure "NP_1 De No NP_2", this paper attempts to analyze the nominal phrase (NP_1) and the subordinate nominal phrase (NP_2), as well as their distribution and classification in the sentence structure "NP_2 in the NP_1" when NP_1 refers to a place.show more
