Abstract |
In this study, we compare three estimation schemes for eddy viscosity profiles in the ocean bottom boundary layer. Among three schemes, two (scheme 1 and 2) were used in previous studies while the oth...er (scheme 3) is newly proposed in this study. Both schemes analyzes vertical profiles of tidal-current harominc coefficients and estimate eddy viscosity profile using the least square technique under the assumption of the Ekman equilibrium in the horizontal momentum eauations. Three schemes can be contrasted with physical quantity whose errors to be minimized. Performance of these estimation schemes are examined using artificially simulated harmonic coefficients with known eddy viscosity profile and observed harmonic coefficients.show more
