Some studies have been examining water and nutrient cycles in various forested watersheds in Japan. For comparing results with these studies, meteorological characteristics of each watershed should be clarified. We examined meteorological characteristics of Ochozu Experimental Watershed in Kasuya research forest, Kyushu University for the four years 2003 to 2006. Annual precipitation, annual mean air temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, and wind speed were 2003 mm, 16.2 ℃, 69%, 12.6 MJ m^(-2), and 1.2 m s^(-1), respectively. Annual precipitation and annual mean air temperature of the Ochozu experimental watershed were almost the same as those of Etajima, Aichi, Kahoku, and Koriyama watersheds. By comparing the precipitation and air temperature of Ochozu with those at Fukuoka and Iizuka Meteorological Observations, we found that the precipitation and air temperature of Ochozu were more highly related to those of Iizuka, rather than of Fukuoka. Thus, the use of the data from Iizuka rather than from Fukuoka is recommended for filling gaps in precipitation and air temperature records taken at Ochozu.
