概要 |
In the Part 2, observations of thermally induced bubbles and measurements of breakdown characteristics with a cylinder-to-plane gap are described. The experimental results show that observed bubble be...havior agrees very well with the analytical one described in the Part 1 and that breakdown voltage in liquid nitrogen in the presence of thermal bubbles depends on activity of boiling and falls down to the value in nitrogen gas at normal boiling temperature. The reduction in breakdown voltage is mainly caused by elongated bubbles in the shortest gap region in smooth cylinder-toplane gap. Fins on the cylinder reduce the breakdown voltage due to their field enhancement effect, but the reduction by thermal bubbles is minimized if the fin is machined so as to guide electrically the bubble along the groove between fins from a higher external field region to a lower one.続きを見る
