Abstract The objectives of this study are to develop and propose a sustainable friction damping system which consists of the concrete block wall assembled by dry construction method and the frame of main struc...ture. In this system, the wall and frame are not bonded to each other at their connection part, making it possible to be disassembled once assembled. So the members of this system can be easily reused or recycled. In this study, horizontal cyclic loading tests of the wall and frame specimens assembled by the proposed construction method were conducted. As a result of the loading tests, some basic mechanical characteristics for a friction damper were clarified. And it was found out that the proposed construction method can effectively provide the hysteresis characteristics suitable for a dampershow more
