Abstract The purpose of this study was to examine participants' media literacy Skills for Sport through action research. Previous research has demonstrated that most spectators view the media sport uncriticall...y and mass media represented some dominant ideologies. There is, nevertheless, no existing research that measure viewing skills for sport. Participants were university students (n=32) majoring physical education or sport. This project included the same questionnaire that the participants filled out twice : pre-class and post-class. The questionnaire was consisted of 17 closed-ended questions. I then analyzed these questionnaire to measure the acquistion of viewing skills of sport. The results showed some significant differences as follow : Participants were able to understand that 1) it is different for each of us how to understand the media message even if we see the same thing and 2) differnt media produce differnt images even if they try to convey the same thing. These fidings indicates that increased instruction in media literacy for sport at the places of education needed.show more
