Abstract It is known that wind damage to houses is affected by peak gust speeds. However, residential damage rate can't be estimated accurately only from peak gust speeds. The numerous conditions of constructi...ons such as roof forms and materials influence increases in wind damage. Furthermore, the extension of residential damage also seems to associate with climatic conditions like annual mean wind speed and snow accumulation. The authors showed mean wind speed in the past 30 years and rate of the number of new house to all house affect on variation of estimated residential damage rate due to peak gust speeds. Actual residential damage rate seemed to correspond to the estimated residential damage rate using influencing factors which vary across ages by multiple regression analysis.show more
