Abstract To investigate the effects of roof pitch on unsteady wind pressure around a gable roof structure, we measured unsteady wind pressure of gable roof bodies with different size of several roof pitches un...der a step-function-like gust using a specially-equipped wind tunnel. We confirmed that time evolutions of wind pressure on the bodies had two peaks. The first peak occurred while the wind speed was developing and the second peak appeared after the wind speed had reached a target wind speed. The peak wind pressure coefficient under a step-function-like gust was bigger than that under a steady flow, and the peak wind pressure coefficient increased with a decrease in a non-dimensional rise time. The rate of increase depended on the location of measuring point and the pitch of gable roof.show more
