The purpose of this survey was to investigate the process of taking over cases at the Psychological Clinic inKyushu University, and to provide information on the psychology of the client and therapist in the handover process. First, the staff answered a questionnaire containing items on experience, the point of solicitude, difficulty, and anxiety about the handover process. The results revealed that almost all staff had no experience in taking over cases to a successor, although most of the staff who had attended work here for over two years had to take over cases from a predecessor. Through free description, "handover information," "how to match replacements with their predecessors," and "content of therapy" were found as key points of discussion. This survey seemed like anopportunity for the staff to rethink the process of taking over cases, in addition to raising their awareness of and fostering thought about the essential points to remember regarding the handover process in the training that followed. Through this survey and the subsequent training, staff members' cognizance of the difficulty involved in the handover process and its key points to remember seemed to have been increased.
