Abstract |
This report provides analytical techniques for major, trace and light rare earth elements by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry at Department of Environmental Change, Faculty of Social and Cultural Studi...es, Kyushu University. 30 elements (SiO_2, TiO_2, Al_2O_3, total Fe_2O_3, MnO, MgO, CaO, Na_2O, K_2O, P_2O_5, S, V, Cr, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb, Ba, La, Ce, Nd, Sm, Pb and Th) were measured using low dilution glass bead (sample:flux ratio of 1 : 2 ). Synthetic samples (17 samples for major elements and 25 samples for trace elements)prepared from pure chemical reagents as well as standard samples provided by Geological Society of Japan (GSJ)(20 samples)were used to define individual calibration lines of each element. Analytical results of the GSJ standard samples are in good agreement with their recommended values. The calibration lines were made from wide compositional ranges, and therefore we obtained acceptable values from various natural rocks invo1ving carbonate, ultramafic and lateritic samples.show more
