When Lentinus edodes (Meiji 904) bedlog was discharged with as electric impulse of 288 kV, the fruiting-body yield was increased to 1.6 times that of control (Table 1). The electric impulse treatment of L. edodes (Mori 465) on the supplemented wood meal was also effective for stimulating fruiting-body formation. The electric impulse treatment of 151kV was the most effective and increased both the overall yield and the fruiting-percentage to about 5 times compared to the control (Fig. 1). The significant differences were not detected in the C/N ratio, hot water extracts, and nitrogen and sugar contents in hot water extracts between the bedlog treated with an electric impulse and control (Table 2). Similar results were obtained on the original wood and the supplemented wood weal (Table 3 and 4). These results indicated that the changes of wood components by an electric impulse were not responsible for the stimulation of fruiting-body formation.
