| Abstract |
This study investigated regional cultural differences in Japan. Based upon the historical and economical backgrounds of Kanto and Kansai, we assumed that blunder-telling behavior would be a good index... for revealing their differences in interpersonal interactions. 54 (Study 1) and 309 (Study 2) college students responded to a questionnaire. Study 1 showed, as expected, that Kansai people are more likely to tell their blunders than Kanto people. However, no significant regional difference was found in Study 2. We performed exploratory factor analyses on blunder items and found 2 types of blunders: Exaggerating- and reporting-type of blunders. The simple main effect for region was reached to marginal significance on exaggerating-type of blunders. Its implications and limitations were discussed.show more
