Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, researchers have had to shift their research methods online. Clinical psychologists also alternate their qualitativeresearch styles using online interviewing as they have been unable to conduct face-to-face interviews to prevent infections and reduce participants’anxiety. This study reviewed the findings concerning online research guidelines and telepsychotherapy. This article aims to classify these findingsinto 1) advantages and disadvantages, 2) ethical considerations, and 3) clinical considerations in actual online interviewing procedures. Someadvantages include the benefit of sampling and online safety and security. Conversely, disadvantages include the loss of data quality, highdiscontinuation rate, and risks of information leakage. Researchers must comply with ethical and clinical considerations by informing about therespect of privacy and withdrawal procedures to the participants, respecting online communities, setting an adequate internet environment, considering reasonable accommodation, etc. Online interviews should be a positive option rather than an alternative method for face-to-faceinterviews. Future studies should focus on developing guidelines from the viewpoint of information leakage risks and digital literacy.
