概要 | The Yanagigaura skarn deposit、Mojimine, is located at the southwestern extreme of MojiWard, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. The deposit occurs in the Paleozoic Yobuno Group that consists of pelit...ic schist and chert intercalating small lenticular masses of limestone. The group is intruded by the Cretaceous Hirao granodiorite body and porphyrite dykes. The deposit had been found in late 19th century. In 1931 and 1950, the magnetite and garnet ores were exploited but the reserves were immediately exhausted. 丁hedeposit is mainly composed of garnet-magentite skarn, associated with green skarn which contains plagioclase-clinopyroxene-epidote skarn, clinopyroxene-sufide skarn, and epidote-chlorite-scheelite skarn. Garnet consists chiefly of andradite, and clinopyroxene of hedenbergite. Sulfides include pyrite, marcasite, sphalerite, galena, chalcopyrite, together with trace amounts of Bi-Pb-Te-S minerals such as bismuthinite and aleksite. It is concluded that the Yanagigaura deposit is regarded vein skarn (Kerric, 1977) impregnated in limestone, and was formed by mineralizing fluid closely related to the intrusion of Hirao granodiorite magma.
