概要 |
Global features of the geomagnetic field over the past 10,000 years were studied. Reliable data set of inclination and declination at twelve localities were prepared by combining paleomagneticd ata wi...th archaeomagneticd ata. We estimated the time variation of the geomagneticd ipolem omentb y analyzingt he virtual geomagneticp ole (VGP) positions calculated from this data set. The geomagneticp olesw erec alculatedf or every 100-yearin tervalb y averagingt he VGP. The distributiono f the geomagneticp olesh as an elliptics hape and westwardm ovementw as predominant throughout the interval. The obtained time sequence of the movement of the geomagneticp ole can be dividedi nto three intervals:d uring the periodb etweenc a. 7000a nd ca. 3700B .P. (B.P.: before1 950A .D.), the movemento f the geomagneticp ole was inactive, and it was active before and after this period, fluctuating over 10 degrees. Continuoust ime variationo f the dipolem omentw asi nferredf romt he angular dispersion of the VGP,b y investigatingth e relationshipb etweent he angular dispersiono f the VGP and the dipole moment. The result suggests that the dipole moment had sharp peaks of high intensity around .8500 B.P., 4200 B.P. and 1200 B.P.続きを見る
