概要 |
In 1988, Arizona Proposition 106, called the English as the Official Language Act, was approved in a few differences by 51% of agreeing, 49% of opposition. However, 10 years later, Proposition 106 was... nullified by the Supreme Court. And Arizona Proposition 103, also called the English as the Official Language Act, was 2006 election ballot in Arizona as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved in a big of the differences by 74% of agreeing, 26% of opposition. This big change of the resident consciousness in Arizona for 18 years may be based on the result of the language education policies which were implemented in public schools. Especially, it suggests that Proposition 203, also known as the "Ron Unz Initiative", which was a voter initiative passed in 2000 and the strict interpretation and implementation of Proposition 203 by the superintendent of Arizona Department of Education, Tom Horn, who took office in 2003, may affect the change of the resident consciousness in Arizona.続きを見る
