The theories of vertical pressure distribution on the base of loaded strip has been standing on various assumption. Neumerical calculation due to those assumptions of different distribution forms, such as rectangular, triangular and parabolic, gives all different results. The author added a new idea of lateral Movement of soil, which advances from edge to center of the base to the above assumption, and thoroughly discoursed. In case of shallow footed dykes on the muddy tidal shore, this treatment was found to be promising more satisfactory applicabilitp than the theory of rectangular form of pressure distribution beneath a loaded strip base.
