In this study the author found that the copper-sulphate reaction serves to the diagnosis of Japanese Encephalitis. But a little difficulty is often observed because of the existence of albumin in serum. For the diagnosis of Encephalitis, globuline serum is better. The whole serum, in which 0.lcc of 10% pepton fluid is added, must be inactivated. The method is as follows: Dilute the material (0.05cc) 1:10 with distilled water, and heat it in the water-bath for 1 minute after adding 0.5cc of 1N caustic sodium, and then add to it 1cc of 0.5% copper-sulphate solution in distilled water. In the case of the globuline serum, it must be heated again in the water-bath for 1 minute, while in the whole serum 3minutes. Then the healthy serum shows orange red or yellow-brown in colour, but the diseased serum changes violet.
