A study was made Finns densiflora and Chamaecyparis obtusa, by comparing their rate of seed-germination and of growth of seedlings and the structure of their primary leaves. The material used was cultivated under 12 different conditions, made by varying the combinations of 4 degrees of light intensity with 3 degrees of soil moisture. This work was undertaken to see whether or not we can distinguish the differences in their response to light and moisture conditions by such a study, namely by a study of only the early stage of their development.
