概要 Shelikhova (1762-1810) worked in Alaska in 1784-86 for one of several Russian-Alaskan trading companies in which her husband held a controlling interest. When she was widowed in 1795, she petitioned C...therine the Great to inherit the companies. The empress agreed, and she melded the companies into the Alaska-focused Russian-American Company, which she controlled and largely owned. Black, an Alaska historian based in Kodiak, and Petrov (history, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow) team up to tell her story. They cover husband and wife, a global business, help from Demidov, difficulties and death, Natalia takes control, and last struggles. Letters and company records provide much of the primary material.
